The importance of talking about Mental Health

This week on social media and on television I have seen various accounts of people talking about how important it is for people with mental health to step out and talk about it. Having a mental health problem is nothing to be ashamed of so why is there so much stigma around the subject.
Too many people with mental health illness feel like they are isolated and worthless because they have a condition that nobody can see however by just speaking out about it we will be able to put an end to the stigma.

We need to make people feel like they can speak out about what is happening to them because it could be anyone.
I can only speak on behalf of people with anxiety because having anxiety myself allows me to understand how it feels. So many people in my life think they undertand but they don't and I on a regular basis get the 'You need to stop overthinking' which I can say is the WORST sentence. Its like wow thanks I feel so much better now. Having Anxiety doesn't only mean you overthink. Everyone at some point in their lives suffers some form of anxiety it is just those with a disorder that suffer greater. Everyone gets anxiety when doing a test, visiting the doctors or the dentist etc however for people like me things as simple as calling the doctors to make an appointment or getting the bus can be a massive task.
No matter what Mental Health condition you suffer from you should always feel like you have people around you that you can talk to about it. Do not hold it in and deal with it alone if you don't believe you are strong enough. There will always be someone out there willing to listen. Don't be afraid to reach out to loved ones.

Speak out and lets fight the stigma attached to Mental Health.
